Impotence RemediesImpotence is a common problem faced by men at some point in their life, it is characterized by the continual inability to gain an erection. There are a number of things that contribute to the causes of impotence like over training/exhaustion and lack of sleep, stress, and anxiety. Quite often one random case of impotence can lead to a continual performance anxiety, which can spiral into long term impotence over time. A good indication that the problem is psychological as opposed to physical is if the man still gets a morning erection or is able to get one when masturbating. Question: I think my husband has erectile dysfunction?
(Posted by: Karla Marx on 2008-05-03 15:40:13)
I think it's psychological. He lost his virginity pretty late in life for what the average is, he was 21; he's had 5 partners, including myself. He's 31 now and he's told me that he's never had as much sex in his life as he did with me; we've been together for a while now. When I was pregnant our sex life pretty much went out the window after the 7th month of my preg.. After I had my son we were pretty regular again, but then, it started again like when I was pregnant, he can't sustain an erection. The reason I think it might be psychological is because he says he's not concentrating; we do have a lot going on in life but it's not stressful in my opinion. Another reason i think it's psychological is b/ c when he's had a couple of beers and he's more relaxed, he can sustain his erection. He's told me that he's had frequent problems having erections before in previous relationships; he says it's concentration problems. It does affect me and I blame myself but I try hard not to.. I just don't know how to help him.. we don't have health insurance for ourselves, only our son had ins right now so we can't go to the doc. Also, he's from South America where machismo is still live and well down there so I think he has that added pressure to be so "manly " I don't know how to help him.. I told him to try to let go and just enjoy the moment and what his body was feeling.. other than that piece of advice and giving him space, i don't know what to do.. any thoughts? Before the negativity starts.. No, he's NOT cheating. |

Well a man gets an erection early in the morning almost every morning why not have sex early in the morning when his body is all relaxed and not thinking of anything but sex. |

Does he have a problem when you just give him a BJ?Try and remove all the negative and stressful stuff from your life. Seems he gets his problem around your pregnancies, does that tell you something also. Just read your bio, maybe you need a change of attitude too, maybe your husband is picking up on this and knows you are not happy and that you blame him for your miserable life. |

It may be stress related but it is definitely something that maybe he should have checked out because ED can be the signs of so many life threatening diseases and uncurable things!! These are very serious beginning signs of lots of different things. This is something to not be taken lightly, so your best bet is to open the lines of communication and allow him to feel comfortable discussing it with you and then slowly discuss following up on it with a doctor because you are concerned about his health in the future!! |

Men also are visual. do you ask him to look and watch other than just feel? Maybe he's really not that interested in a womans naked body, unless he is buzzing from booze. Maybe you need to be doing more foreplay? You have to stimulate him too!! Go to the Men's Health section and ask this there too! My ex hubby's didn't like sex when I was too far along. For some reason, they both thought they'd hurt the baby!! |

What's to concentrate on? Maybe that is the problem, if he thinks he needs to concentrate then he may be looking at it like a chore and that he needs to do things a certain way to please you. Especially if he does just fine after a drink or two. Maybe you need to ensure him you like the way he makes you feel during sex. |

I think you should give him a full body massage and tease him a little. Then let him tease you a little. Dont make having sex the ultimate goal just keep it playful and intimate. He is probably masturabting a lot. So tell while you dont care if he does you would just like to be included. Join him in the shower and wash him all over. Women forget to seduce men. It isnt always what you wear or dont wear but how you touch us that can get us hot. |

You're not stressed but maybe he is. I don't think it's you personally. Sounds like he does, in fact, have an ED disorder which may be caused by the stress. Try to be supportive (it sounds like you are) but what he truly needs is a doctor when you can afford one. Good luck to both of you. When you are in the mood, crack a beer for him. Don't blame yourself. |

ED is a very big deal to men, the more you talk about it, the worse it gets. Just let it go, he may feel too pressured now to even think about sex and probably feels embarrassed that he cant get it up therefore avoids sex altogether. The best thing to do is give him time and see what happens. If it is psychological, let him work it out, although I don't think it is. |

OK so you think he has an erectile dysfunction, but the thing about all of this is, usually a man does not have to concentrate to get erect, at least he shouldn't have too, it's not a mind thing, all he basically have to do is be attracted to the woman that he's with and bingo, so all that stuff about not being able to concentrate is a load of bull he's feeding you, maybe he just ain't attracted to you like that anymore, sorry to say it, but that could be it, i mean i can see if when he drinks beers he would be the same or worse but you say that he gets erect when he drinks, but on sober days he doesn't something just don't sound right to me on that, so i say maybe you need to talk to him more about that, find out the whole truth about what's going on. |

In my opinion, it does sound lik ED, but it is not psychological. A lot of men go through this, if not all. Now, let us not get confused. If he has no problem getting it up but has a problem keeping it up, that is call premature ejaculation. Most cases of PE happen in men 18 - 30 years of age. That is because men learn how to better control themselves with each sexual encounter. Either or, if you both feel as though relaxation is key to solving this problem, then you must make him feel more relaxed. Ease the pressure off of him. He is probably feeling more pressure and stress knowing that you want him to perform. He is having anxiety with that. Do not initiate sex with him. Wait until the child go asleep. Go to your husband and relax him. Give him a hot bath. Give him a nice, deep, sensual massage. Have some foreplay with him. You know, make it all about him. Let him know that you do not care about having sex. You just want to make him feel good. I honestly feel that if you take the pressure off of him to perform, then he will. It is called paradoxical instruction. Lastly, do not blame yourself. This kind of thing happens. To ALL men. It is nobody's fault. |
